Few weeks ago I shared with you the release of data migration tool for Magento 1.x to Magento 2 – which helps merchants efficiently port all of key product, customer, and order data, store configurations, promotions and more to Magento 2.
Today I’m really excited to share the detailed whitepaper about this tool. The 16-page-whitepaper outlines the steps in the migration process, and provides a technical overview of the Data Migration Tool that is intended to protect data integrity and reduce downtime during migration.
Let’s take a quick look at what’s inside the whitepaper:
1. Best practices and benchmarking – This section provides our best information about how to speed up and simplify your migration, and provides guidance about how much time you can expect migration to require.
2. Creating a Migration Plan – This section lists detailed guidelines to plan and test the migration. To be more specific, the plan follows this flow: Preconditions before you run the migration > Review your current site > Capacity planning > Build and test Magento 2 > Start your migration > Incremental Updates > Go live
3. How Migration Works – This section previews your migration experience by providing a high-level migration tool overview. You’ll also learn what needs to be manually migrated in this part.
4. Database Configuration and Mapping Files – This section provides the configuration and mapping file that help you Automatically migrate tables and data for all tables that did not change between Magento 1.x and Magento 2.0, and many more functions.
If you find the whitepaper useful, feel free to send this post to your friends or colleagues, or maybe share it on your social channels.
